Taiwan's startup ecosystem made a strong showing at VivaTech 2026, Europe's largest technology and startup conference, as a 34-company delegation of startups and supply-chain partners took to the Paris stage under the banner "AI Taiwan." The mission, organized by the Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration (SMESA) under Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs, in partnership with the National Science and Technology Council's Taiwan Tech Arena(TTA) and the Ministry's Department of Industrial Technology, spotlighted Taiwanese innovation in artificial intelligence, net-zero sustainability, and smart healthcare.

NunoX Technologies Wins Global Deep Tech Battle

Among the competition highlights, four Taiwanese startups advanced to the finals of the Global Deep Tech Battle, a competition hosted by Switzerland's national pavilion, swisstec. NunoX Technologies, an SMESA -incubated company, took first place in the AI category. NunoX has developed a proprietary high-precision scanner paired with advanced AI that converts real fabric textures and materials into "digital cloth" with up to 98% visual fidelity, offering a solution to the waste and pollution generated by physical sampling in the traditional textile industry.

Seven Taiwanese Startups Earn VivaTech's New "Tech for Change Award"

Marking VivaTech's tenth anniversary, organizers introduced the "Tech for Change Award" this year to recognize companies tackling major environmental, social, and health challenges through technology. Seven Taiwanese startups received the honor:

  • Precision Biotech develops clinical-grade AI and edge-computing chips capable of real-time inference in under one millisecond with ultra-low power consumption, balancing medical efficiency with data privacy.

  • Apollo Power offers an AI-driven energy management system that helps businesses shift from passively absorbing energy costs to actively profiting from energy management.

  • DeCloak Intelligences specializes in privacy-enhancing technology that de-identifies images at the edge while maintaining over 99% recognition accuracy, addressing data-leakage and compliance risks in AI development.

  • Ledlas was recognized for its high-efficiency solid-state laser technology.

  • RICHTEN ENERGY was honored for its net-zero building photovoltaic solutions.

  • TanE AIoT was recognized for its AIoT-based safety wearables.

  • National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering was recognized for its smart-city monitoring platform.

Together, the seven honorees underscore Taiwan's ability to meet Europe's rising demand for green energy and safety-focused technologies.

Deepening Ties in Lille: Five Startups Showcase at AI Summit

Ahead of VivaTech, SMESA also led a delegation to Lille, a rising AI hub in France, for an AI summit featuring exchanges with two of the region's flagship innovation networks: CITC (the AI and IoT innovation cluster) and La French Tech Lille, a national-level startup hub. Five Taiwanese startups were selected to present on stage:

  • Avalanche Computing focuses on simplifying AI model training and deployment across cloud and GPU environments.

  • MaiAgent focuses on secure enterprise generative AI solutions for organizations.

  • NEXT INTEGRAL develops edge-AI visual inspection technology.

  • TURING CHAIN is dedicated to decentralized digital identity verification.

  • Yuwin Scientific focuses on green refining and circular-economy solutions.

The five companies used the Lille stage and subsequent curated business-matching sessions to present their technologies to European industry leaders, accelerators, and venture capital representatives, opening doors to cross-border partnerships.

A Broader Push for Global Reach

Taken together, Taiwan's performance at VivaTech 2026 — from the Global Deep Tech Battle win to the seven Tech for Change Award recognitions and the Lille AI Summit showcase — reflects a coordinated national strategy to position Taiwanese startups at the center of global conversations on artificial intelligence, sustainability, and health innovation, while forging deeper commercial and investment ties with European partners.
