Since 2015, Taiwan Institute of Economic Research (TIER) has been commissioned by the Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, to establish FINDIT, the Taiwan Startup Information Platform. This project aims to enhance market transparency and information efficiency, to reduce the risks associated with entrepreneurship and investment due to information asymmetry, and to better identify business opportunities in innovation and entrepreneurship.
In addition to building the Taiwan Startup Database, TIER organizes a variety of activities, including fundraising mentorship, lectures, matchmaking events, and the Global Angel & Venture Investment Summit. Our goal is to achieve aforementioned objectives through both online and offline channels, while also improving the funding environment to invigorate the early-stage investment market.
During the period from 2015 to September 2025, 46 matchmaking events were organized. These events were participated by 716 startups and 2,238 investors (total headcount). The project had created 24,175 matchmaking opportunities for startups, bringing about 187 venture fund investment amounting to NT$4.62 billion (disclosed by 159 startups funding deals) through matchmaking events or mentorship. In other words, nearly 26% of startups received investment afterwards, and direct investment accounted for nearly 20% in all funded deals.
