About the Company
Vigeon Technology was founded by a team of surgeons from National Taiwan University Hospital and biomedical engineers from the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), driven by firsthand experiences with surgical smoke during minimally invasive procedures.
Energy devices frequently generate surgical smoke and expose operating room staff to harmful particles—including viruses (e.g., HPV, HIV, COVID-19), bacteria, and carcinogens. In laparoscopic surgery, this smoke is typically vented through the trocar's air hole — located far from the surgical site — allowing smoke to accumulate within and compromise both visibility and safety, highlighting the inadequacy of current smoke evacuating systems.
To solve this problem, we developed a proximal smoke evacuation system designed to capture smoke directly at the surgical site — 0.5~1 cm from the scalpel tip. Validated by more than 30 surgeons of various specialties, the system was proven to clear 86% of surgical smoke following consecutive electrocautery for 30 seconds, significantly improving visibility, workflow, and air quality in the OR.

Our innovations have been recognized with awards and funding from top institutions across Taiwan and internationally. At Vigeon, we are committed to leading the smoke-free surgical field revolution—creating cleaner, safer operating rooms for every team and every patient.
