Introduction
"River Basin Recovery" is a model of agricultural and commercial integration, elevating the ecosystem to a brand together with local farmers. The key is to obtain good sales results. Otherwise, everything will become pointless. If there is an income deficit, the farmers will less likely stick to the alternative, organic agricultural farming method.
Therefore, we have proposed the "River Basin Recovery" model. The ultimate vision of a pesticide-free watershed will be reached based on a step-by-step concept. Taiwan Blue Magpie Tea is committed to the "River Basin Recovery" strategy for the sake of elevating Pinglin to a "pesticide-free watershed" through environmentally friendly agriculture.
To promote the coexistence of ecology and agronomy, we produce various tea products in Pinling. Those are called "Taiwan Blue Magpie Tea". All of them rely on a 100% pesticide and fertilizer free growing method.
Under the concept of eco-friendly agriculture, we put all our "pesticide-free watershed" social enterprise efforts into promoting a beneficial coexistence of the leopard lats’ habitat and agronomy. To achieve this, the expansion of the habitat is a core element of our overall plan. By relying on environmental friendliness in farming, rather than pesticides or chemical fertilizers, we now grow the "Leopard Cat Rice".
We welcome more farmers and young people to participate in this environmentally friendly farming process through the model of "engaging consumers in the farming process". Not only do we give guidance and explanations about the origins of tea and tea making, but also train local farmers. Thus, the participants can listen to the stories about the farmers’ hometowns and learn about the local traditions. By selling “Taiwan Blue Magpie Tea” as well as “Leopard Cat Rice”, we wish to create a leading brand that balances ecology and agriculture, with the ultimate goal of creating value for this land.
“Taiwan Blue Magpie Tea”/ “Leopard Cat Rice” is a social enterprise committed to the "River Basin Recovery” contract-farming plan and trying to elevate Pinglin to a pesticide-free watershed through eco-friendly agriculture methods. Starting from three tributary catchment areas of the Beishi River, we turn the upstream area into a pesticide-free watershed, so that the ecology of all the local wildlife and the agricultural village can peacefully co-exist. We strongly emphasize the concept of “anti-pesticide-and-chemical fertilizer” as well as “natural habitats”, enhancing the value of crops through the establishment of the brand.
