Introduction
Taiwan Implant Technology was jointly established in 2010 by national research units, integrating various sectors including industry, government, research, and medicine. It has successfully transferred 7 artificial dental root patent technologies, establishing the iKICO brand.
In response to international biotechnology development trends, in 2006, the Ministry of Economic Affairs assigned the task to the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre, a prominent research entity in the south, to develop artificial dental root system technology. The aim was to develop domestically produced products to reduce the high reliance on imports. In 2009, the Centre successfully developed the technology, and experimental data and animal testing were verified by National Taiwan University, proving it could compete with Western dental root system providers. This showcased our nation's capability to manufacture high-quality artificial dental roots. Consequently, the Ministry of Economic Affairs further demanded the Centre to raise funds externally to establish an artificial dental root system company, creating Taiwan's own iKICO brand to enter into the high-value dental sector.
In November 2010, Taiwan Implant Technology Co., Ltd. was co-founded by heavyweights including China Steel Corporation, E United Group, Yuan's General Hospital, Metal Industries Research & Development Centre, Tzu Yang Technology, Southeast Cement, Silicon Integrated Systems, Sun Wah Enterprise, and Liang Hsun Enterprise. It became the only biotech medical company in the country with official support, combining industry, research units, and hospital systems.
Starting with the artificial dental root system and establishing the iKICO brand, Taiwan Implant Technology has shown stable and superior clinical performance in implants, gradually expanding into integrated dental implant solutions. With precision and high-quality medical material manufacturing, certification, and quality control capabilities, it has recently transformed into a CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization), from product design, research and development, product registration and certification to production manufacturing assessment, assisting clients in achieving their goals while reducing unnecessary costs.
